Letters to the Lost
by Brigid Kemmerer
Hardcover Giveaway
U.S. Only

Bloomsbury USA Childrens
Released 4/4/2017

Juliet Young always writes letters to her mother, a world-traveling photojournalist. Even after her mother's death, she leaves letters at her grave. It's the only way Juliet can cope.

Declan Murphy isn't the sort of guy you want to cross. In the midst of his court-ordered community service at the local cemetery, he's trying to escape the demons of his past.

When Declan reads a haunting letter left beside a grave, he can't resist writing back. Soon, he's opening up to a perfect stranger, and their connection is immediate. But neither Declan nor Juliet knows that they're not actually strangers. When life at school interferes with their secret life of letters, sparks will fly as Juliet and Declan discover truths that might tear them apart.

Author Question: What is your favorite thing about Letters to the Lost?

That's a tough question! I would have to say that my favorite thing about LETTERS TO THE LOST was the relationship between Declan and his best friend Rev. I haven't had the opportunity to write such a close male friendship before, and it gave me an opportunity to show teen boys being vulnerable around each other, despite the confidence and strength they show to everyone else around them. I got the chance to write Rev's story, too, and MORE THAN WE CAN TELL will be available in April 2018.

Mars One
by Jonathan Maberry
Hardcover Giveaway
U.S. Only

Simon & Schuster Books for Young Readers
Released 4/4/2017

Go on the adventure of a lifetime with a teen and his family after they are selected to colonize Mars in this thrilling new novel from multiple Bram Stoker Award–winning author Jonathan Maberry.

Tristan has known that he and his family were going to be on the first mission to colonize Mars since he was twelve years old, and he has been training ever since. However, knowing that he would be leaving for Mars with no plan to return didn’t stop him from falling in love with Izzy.

But now, at sixteen, it’s time to leave Earth, and he’s forced to face what he must leave behind in exchange for an uncertain future. When the news hits that another ship is already headed to colonize Mars, and the NeoLuddite terrorist group begins threatening the Mars One project, the mission’s purpose is called into question. Is this all worth it?

Author Question: What is your favorite thing about Mars One?

I’ve always been a science nerd. Science rocks and I do a ton of research for my novels –YA and adult fiction. Space travel has always fascinated me. When I was a kid I watched the first moon landing and it blew me away. Then for a long time we seemed to turn away from space. Sure, we had the International Space Station and, for a while, the shuttle program, but we seemed to lose interest in going to other worlds. Then, over the last few years there’s been a renewed and very serious interest in going to Mars. SpaceX, NASA and the real Mars One programs are all in competition to put humans on the Red Planet. I’ve been following all of that and when the chance came to pitch and write a novel about traveling to Mars it was like an absolutely natural next step for me. From the kid who watched Neil Armstrong put the first footprint in the dust of the moon to knowing that humans will set foot on Mars in my lifetime –it’s been a dream come true. I get to live in a science fiction novel that isn’t fiction anymore. That made the whole process absolutely wonderful for me. And, now that Mars One is also in development for film, I may get to sit in a movie theater and watch my own characters take that first incredible step onto another planet.

The Dead Inside
by Cyndy Etler
Advance Reader Copy Giveaway
U.S. Only

Sourcebooks Fire
Released 4/4/2017

For readers of Girl Interrupted and Tweak, Cyndy Etler's gripping memoir gives readers a glimpse into the harrowing reality of her sixteen months in the notorious "tough love" program the ACLU called "a concentration camp for throwaway kids."

I never was a badass. Or a slut, a junkie, a stoner, like they told me I was. I was just a kid looking for something good, something that felt like love. I was a wannabe in a Levi's jean jacket. Anybody could see that. Except my mother. And the professionals at Straight.

From the outside, Straight Inc. was a drug rehab. But on the inside it was...well, it was something else.

All Cyndy wanted was to be loved and accepted. By age fourteen, she had escaped from her violent home, only to be reported as a runaway and sent to a "drug rehabilitation" facility that changed her world.

To the public, Straight Inc. was a place of recovery. But behind closed doors, the program used bizarre and intimidating methods to "treat" its patients. In her raw and fearless memoir, Cyndy Etler recounts her sixteen months in the living nightmare that Straight Inc. considered "healing."

Author Question: What is your favorite thing about The Dead Inside?

This question is asking me to fit 10 pounds of stuff in a five-pound bag! My one, single, favorite thing? I guess my most favorite thing is the fingerprints all over the book’s cover and pages. I mean, my frigging hero, Ellen Hopkins, read and loved and blurbed it when it was still a Word doc. So her prints are on there. Then there are my agents’ prints, who hadn’t even finished reading it when she called to offer representation. And then there are the layers and layers of prints from the editors at my publisher—yes, plural. Editors. So, I guess all of these people think my writing is worth their fingerprints….

Remember that star who won an Oscar and cried, “You like me,” like she had never even imagined that was possible? It’s that. All of those fingerprints that tell me, contrary to the messages I got growing up, that I am worth something. Or at least, my writing is.

True North
by L.E. Sterling
Hardcover Giveaway
U.S. Only

Entangled: Teen
Released 4/4/2017

Abandoned by her family in Plague-ridden Dominion City, eighteen-year-old Lucy Fox has no choice but to rely upon the kindness of the True Borns, a renegade group of genetically enhanced humans, to save her twin sister, Margot. But Nolan Storm, their mysterious leader, has his own agenda. When Storm backtracks on his promise to rescue Margot, Lucy takes her fate into her own hands and sets off for Russia with her True Born bodyguard and maybe-something-more, the lethal yet beautiful Jared Price. In Russia, there's been whispered rumors of Plague Cure.

While Lucy fights her magnetic attraction to Jared, anxious that his loyalty to Storm will hurt her chances of finding her sister, they quickly discover that not all is as it appears…and discovering the secrets contained in the Fox sisters' blood before they wind up dead is just the beginning.

As they say in Dominion, sometimes it’s not you…it’s your DNA.

Author Question: What is your favorite thing about True North?

I love the fact that Lucy and Jared get to travel outside of Dominion City. I may be the author but I loved seeing what the world was like -- how far the ravages of the plague have travelled and how people have organized to survive. I love that the world gets deeper and more complex (and in some ways, more frightening). Most of all, I’d have to say I love the way Lucy and Jared’s relationship develops in True North. I found myself melting into a puddle more than a few times! This book was so satisfying for me to write -- I really hope readers enjoy it as much as I do.

A CHERUB agent must choose between the agency and his own beliefs in the twelfth and final book of the CHERUB series, which Rick Riordan says has “plenty of action.”

CHERUB agents are highly trained, extremely talented—and all under the age of seventeen. For official purposes, these agents do not exist. They are sent out on missions to spy on terrorists, hack into crucial documents, and gather intel on global threats—all without gadgets or weapons. It is an extremely dangerous job, but these agents have one crucial advantage: Adults never suspect that teens are spying on them.

After a tsunami causes massive devastation to a tropical island, its governor sends in the bulldozers to knock down villages, replacing them with luxury hotels. Guarding the corrupt governor’s family isn’t James Adams’s idea of the perfect mission, especially as it’s going to be his last as a CHERUB agent. And then retired colleague Kyle Blueman comes up with an unofficial and highly dangerous plan of his own. James must choose between loyalty to CHERUB, and loyalty to his oldest friend.

Speak of Me As I Am
by Sonia Belasco
Hardcover Giveaway
U.S. Only

Philomel Books
Released 4/4/2017

A moving story of grief, honesty, and the healing power of art—the ties that bind us together, even when those we love are gone.

Melanie and Damon are both living in the shadow of loss. For Melanie, it’s the loss of her larger-than-life mother, taken by cancer well before her time. For Damon, it is the loss of his best friend, Carlos, who chose to kill himself rather than reveal his secret.

Through a staged production of Othello, through the lens of Damon’s camera, and through the strokes of Melanie’s paintbrush, the two teens find that, rather than moving on from their losses, they can learn to live with their own corners of sadness, especially because they’re not doing so alone. And it is only by being honest with themselves that they can begin to find some small bit of peace.

This multi-cultural story shows readers that grief comes in all shapes, sizes, and colors—and that love and pain can bind people together even as they threaten to tear us apart.

Other Breakable Things
by Kelley York
Entangled: Teen
Released 4/4/2017

According to Japanese legend, folding a thousand paper cranes will grant you healing.

Evelyn Abel will fold two thousand if it will bring Luc back to her.

Luc Argent has always been intimately acquainted with death. After a car crash got him a second chance at life—via someone else’s transplanted heart—he tried to embrace it. He truly did. But he always knew death could be right around the corner again.

And now it is.

Sick of hospitals and tired of transplants, Luc is ready to let his failing heart give out, ready to give up. A road trip to Oregon—where death with dignity is legal—is his answer. But along for the ride is his best friend, Evelyn.

And she’s not giving up so easily.

A thousand miles, a handful of roadside attractions, and one life-altering kiss later, Evelyn’s fallen, and Luc’s heart is full. But is it enough to save him? Evelyn’s betting her heart, her life, that it can be.

Right down to the thousandth paper crane.

Author Question: What is your favorite thing about Other Breakable Things?

Kelley: I think my favorite thing is Luc and Evelyn’s relationship and the past they have together. For as close as they were, it’s obvious they both kept their share of secrets from one another and there were topics that remained off-limits early in their relationship. I was primarily in charge of Evelyn’s character and development, and there’s a bit of my own childhood loneliness tucked away in her.

Rowan: I think it would be Luc’s emotional development. He really goes from being completely isolated internally to slowly realizing that not only is he not alone in this, but that he doesn’t want to be, either.

In this delightfully charming teen spin on You’ve Got Mail, the one guy Bailey Rydell can’t stand is actually the boy of her dreams—she just doesn’t know it yet.

Classic movie buff Bailey “Mink” Rydell has spent months crushing on a witty film geek she only knows online by “Alex.” Two coasts separate the teens until Bailey moves in with her dad, who lives in the same California surfing town as her online crush.

Faced with doubts (what if he’s a creep in real life—or worse?), Bailey doesn’t tell Alex she’s moved to his hometown. Or that she’s landed a job at the local tourist-trap museum. Or that she’s being heckled daily by the irritatingly hot museum security guard, Porter Roth—a.k.a. her new arch-nemesis. But life is whole lot messier than the movies, especially when Bailey discovers that tricky fine line between hate, love, and whatever-it-is she’s starting to feel for Porter.

And as the summer months go by, Bailey must choose whether to cling to a dreamy online fantasy in Alex or take a risk on an imperfect reality with Porter. The choice is both simpler and more complicated than she realizes, because Porter Roth is hiding a secret of his own: Porter is Alex…Approximately.

Zenn Diagram
by Wendy Brant
Kids Can Press
Released 4/4/2017

Eva Walker is a seventeen-year-old math genius. And if that doesn’t do wonders for her popularity, there’s another thing that makes it even worse: when she touches another person or anything that belongs to them — from clothes to textbooks to cell phones — she sees a vision of their emotions. She can read a person’s fears and anxieties, their secrets and loves … and what they have yet to learn about calculus. This is helpful for her work as a math tutor, but it means she can never get close to people. Eva avoids touching anyone and everyone. People think it’s because she’s a clean freak — with the emphasis on freak — but it’s all she can do to protect herself from other people’s issues.

Then one day a new student walks into Eva’s life. His jacket gives off so much emotional trauma that she falls to the floor. Eva is instantly drawn to Zenn, a handsome and soulful artist who also has a troubled home life, and her feelings only grow when she realizes that she can touch Zenn’s skin without having visions. But when she discovers the history that links them, the truth threatens to tear the two apart.
