Love Blind
by C. Desir & Jolene Perry
Hardcover Giveaway
U.S. Only

Simon Pulse
Released 5/10/2016

Shy high schooler Kyle Jamieson and Hailey Bosler, a musician with degenerative blindness, team up to tackle a bucket list of greatest fears in this compelling novel that explores what it means to take risks.

It starts with a list of fears. Stupid things really. Things that Hailey shouldn't worry about, wouldn’t worry about if she didn’t wake up every morning with the world a little more blurry. Unable to see her two moms clearly. Unable to read the music for her guitar. One step closer to losing the things she cares about the most.

For a while, the only thing that keeps Hailey moving forward is the feeling she gets when she crosses something off the list.

Then she meets Kyle. He mumbles—when he talks at all—and listens to music to drown out his thoughts. He’s loaded down with fears, too. So Hailey talks him into making his own list.

Together, they stumble into an odd friendship, helping each other tackle one after another of their biggest fears. But fate and timing can change everything. And sometimes facing your worst fear makes you realize you had nothing to lose after all.

Author Question: What is your favorite thing about Love Blind?

Christa and Jo went into this collaboration as a fun thing to do together while one of us lived in Alaska (Jo) and one in Chicago (Christa). Our writing styles are similar, while our storylines tend to be very different. We love that this book merged together what we both do best, and we love that we're sharing the experience of bringing a book we love into the world.

The Season of You & Me
by Robin Constantine
Hardcover Giveaway
U.S. Only

Balzer + Bray
Released 5/10/2016

Cassidy Emmerich is determined to make this summer—the last before her boyfriend heads off to college—unforgettable. What she doesn’t count on is her boyfriend breaking up with her. Now, instead of being poolside with him, Cass is over a hundred miles away, spending the summer with her estranged father and his family at their bed-and-breakfast at the Jersey Shore and working as the newest counselor at Camp Manatee.

Bryan Lakewood is sick of nevers. You’ll never walk. You’ll never surf. You’ll never slow dance with your date at prom. One miscalculated step and Bryan’s life changed forever—now he’s paralyzed and needs to use a wheelchair. This is the first summer he’s back at his former position at Camp Manatee and ready to reclaim some of his independence, in spite of those who question if he’s up for the job.

Cass is expecting two months dealing with heartbreak.
Bryan is expecting a summer of tough adjustments.
Neither of them is expecting to fall in love.

Author Question: What is your favorite thing about The Season of You & Me?

I’ve always wanted to write a book set at the beach! The town in THE SEASON OF YOU & ME is loosely based on Cape May, NJ – a place I adore. My other books were set in a more urban environment, and while the setting somewhat dictated what went on – I found this particular setting lent itself to some fun scenes.

One of my favorite scenes takes place on the beach promenade when Cassidy and Bryan join forces for the camp counselors’ scavenger hunt. It’s the first time they are out having fun together and they both have their guard down. My favorite scenes in any book are when the reader gets to catch a glimpse of that first spark between characters. Having the beach as a backdrop made it even more romantic.

Released 5/10/2016

Forget the story of Peter Pan you know. Because in Everland, the only way to grow up is to survive.

London has been destroyed in a blitz of bombs and disease. The only ones who have survived are children, among them Gwen Darling and her siblings, Joanna and Mikey. They spend their nights scavenging and their days avoiding the ruthless Marauders -- the German Army led by Captain Hanz Otto Oswald Kretschmer.

Unsure if the virus has spread past England's borders but desperate to leave, Captain Hook hunts for a cure, which he thinks can be found in one of the survivors. He and his Marauders stalk the streets snatching children for experimentation. None ever return. Until the day they grab Joanna. As Gwen sets out to save her, she meets a mysterious boy named Pete. Pete offers the assistance of his gang of Lost Boys and the fierce sharpshooter Bella, who have all been living in a city hidden underground. But in a place where help has a steep price and every promise is bound by blood, it will cost Gwen. And are she, Pete, the Lost Boys, and Bella enough to outsmart Captain Hook?

Author Question: What is your favorite thing about Everland?

My favorite thing about EVERLAND is the world that Pete and the Lost Kids live in. I had so much fun creating a steampunk land where only orphaned children lived. Trying to come up with ideas for the names of the different jobs the kids held was tons of fun too. When I grow up, I want to go be a Lost Kid in the Pete's Lost City.

Highly Illogical Behavior
by John Corey Whaley
Dial Books
Released 5/10/2016

Sixteen-year-old Solomon is agoraphobic. He hasn’t left the house in three years, which is fine by him.

Ambitious Lisa desperately wants to get into the second-best psychology program for college (she’s being realistic). But how can she prove she deserves a spot there?

Solomon is the answer.

Determined to “fix” Sol, Lisa thrusts herself into his life, introducing him to her charming boyfriend Clark and confiding her fears in him. Soon, all three teens are far closer than they thought they’d be, and when their facades fall down, their friendships threaten to collapse, as well.

A hilarious and heartwarming coming-of-age perfect for readers of Me and Earl and the Dying Girl and All The Bright Places, Highly Illogical Behavior showcases the different ways in which we hide ourselves from the world—and the ways in which love, tragedy, and the need for connection may be the only things to bring us back into the light.

Author Question: What is your favorite thing about Highly Illogical Behavior?

My favorite thing about this weird little book is that even though I wrote it, it still surprised me. What started out as a broader exploration of mental illness turned into a more personal story than I ever could've imagined. The topic itself stems from my own battle with anxiety--much less severe than my main characters'--and my own desire to understand it better in both the way it impacts myself and those around me. How that turned into a story of agoraphobia, board games, swimming, and Star Trek, I can't quite explain. But, I can tell you that it helped me understand myself better, which is the reason I became a writer in the first place. My hope, of course, is that maybe someone out there will read it and understand themselves a little better too.

The Fall of Butterflies
by Andrea Portes
Released 5/10/2016

Willa Parker, 646th and least popular resident of What Cheer, Iowa, is headed east to start a new life.

Did she choose this new life? No, because that would be too easy—and nothing in Willa’s life is easy. It’s her famous genius mother’s idea to send her to ultra-expensive, ultra-exclusive Pembroke Prep, and it’s only the strength of her name that got Willa accepted in the first place.

But Willa has no intentions of fitting in at Pembroke. She’s not staying long, she decides. Not at this school—and not on this planet. But when she meets peculiar, glittering Remy Taft, the richest, most mysterious girl on campus, she starts to see a foothold in this foreign world—a place where she could maybe, possibly, sort of fit.

When Willa looks at Remy, she sees a girl who has everything. But for Remy, having everything comes at a price. And as she spirals out of control, Willa can feel her spinning right out of her grasp.

In Willa’s secret heart, all she’s ever wanted is to belong. But if Remy, the girl who gave her this world, is slip-sliding away, is Willa meant to follow her down?

Andrea Portes’s incandescent, heartfelt novel explores the meaning of friendship, new beginnings, and the precarious joy and devastating pain of finding home in a place—a person—with wings.
