10 New YALit Releases 3/2-3/8 Plus FLOWERS IN THE SKY Giveaway by Lynn Joseph

Flowers in the Sky
by Lynn Joseph

Author Question: What is your favorite thing about Flowers in the Sky?

My favorite thing about this book is how Nina notices that people, like her beloved flowers, will wither away without love and care, which is what happens to her older brother Darrio who has been transformed from the sparkling artistic gardener he once was in the Dominican Republic into a closed off, secretive, untrusting man in New York. I love that Nina tries to maintain her spirit and light in ways that fit her circumstances and that even the jaded Luis Santana recognizes Nina's special light.

Wicked Kiss (Nightwatchers)
by Michelle Rowen
signed paperback

My kiss can kill.

I used to be ordinary Samantha Day, but that's changed. Now, after one dark kiss from a dangerous boy, I can steal someone's soul…or their life. If I give in to the constant hunger inside me, I hurt anyone I kiss. If I don't…I hurt myself.

Bishop is the one whose kiss I crave most, but if I kiss him, I'll kill him. Then there's another boy, one I can't hurt. One whose kiss seems to miraculously quell my hunger. They're both part of a team of angels and demons that's joined forces in my city to fight a mysterious rising darkness, an evil that threatens everyone I know and love. I just wonder if I'll be able to help Bishop—or if I'm just another part of the darkness he's sworn to destroy….

NIGHTWATCHERS: When angels and demons must work together, something beyond evil is rising…

Author Question: What is your favorite thing about Wicked Kiss?
WICKED KISS is the sequel to DARK KISS, so my favorite thing about this book is getting the chance to explore the story and the histories and the interactions between my characters much further than I did in book one. Things get pretty twisty and dark for Samantha in WK as she navigates a scary city filled with enemies and friends -- but sometimes it's hard to be able to tell which is which!

by Jessica Brody

When Freedom Airlines flight 121 went down over the Pacific Ocean, no one ever expected to find survivors. Which is why the sixteen-year-old girl discovered floating among the wreckage—alive—is making headlines across the globe.
Even more strange is that her body is miraculously unharmed and she has no memories of boarding the plane. She has no memories of her life before the crash. She has no memories period. No one knows how she survived. No one knows why she wasn’t on the passenger manifest. And no one can explain why her DNA and fingerprints can’t be found in a single database in the world.
Crippled by a world she doesn’t know, plagued by abilities she doesn’t understand, and haunted by a looming threat she can’t remember, Seraphina struggles to piece together her forgotten past and discover who she really is. But with every clue only comes more questions. And she’s running out of time to answer them.
Her only hope is a strangely alluring boy who claims to know her from before the crash. Who claims they were in love. But can she really trust him? And will he be able to protect her from the people who have been making her forget?
From popular young adult author Jessica Brody comes a compelling and suspenseful new sci-fi series, set in a world where science knows no boundaries, memories are manipulated, and true love can never be forgotten.

Author Question: What is your favorite thing about Unremembered?

UNREMEMBERED was such a different writing experience for me. All of my other books are contemporary standalones and this is the first in a sci-fi/suspense trilogy. So just the genre change was exhilarating. Plus, having to set up a 3-book series with longer character arcs was such a fun and unique challenge! But I’d have to say my favorite thing about this book is the fact that it has SO much going on. It has a sci-fi aspect (which really doesn’t kick in until halfway through the book, so don’t be fooled by the contemporary opening!), it has a mystery aspect (the entire book the reader, and the main character, is trying to answer the question: “Who is Seraphina?” and I think you’ll be genuinely surprised by the answer!) and there’s also a HUGE romance aspect to the story (that is really the heart of the entire book). On top of that there’s a little suspense and action thrown in for good measure. :) I hope everyone can find something to like about UNREMEMBERED.

Requiem (Delirium)
by Lauren Oliver

This exciting finale to Lauren Oliver's New York Times bestselling Delirium trilogy is a riveting blend of nonstop action and forbidden romance in a dystopian United States.
Now an active member of the resistance, Lena has transformed. The nascent rebellion that was underway in Pandemonium has ignited into an all-out revolution in Requiem, and Lena is at the center of the fight.
After rescuing Julian from a death sentence, Lena and her friends fled to the Wilds. But the Wilds are no longer a safe haven. Pockets of rebellion have opened throughout the country, and the government cannot deny the existence of Invalids. Regulators infiltrate the borderlands to stamp out the rebels.
As Lena navigates the increasingly dangerous terrain of the Wilds, her best friend, Hana, lives a safe, loveless life in Portland as the fiancée of the young mayor. Requiem is told from both Lena and Hana's points of view. They live side by side in a world that divides them until, at last, their stories converge.
With lyrical writing, Lauren Oliver seamlessly interweaves the peril that Lena faces with the inner tumult she experiences after the reappearance of her first love, Alex, the boy she thought was dead. Sophisticated and wide-ranging, Requiem brings the Delirium trilogy to a thrilling conclusion.

Author Question: What is your favorite thing about Requiem (Delirium)?

I love that we get to hear from Hana's POV.

The Nightmare Affair
by Mindee Arnett

Sixteen-year-old Dusty Everhart breaks into houses late at night, but not because she’s a criminal. No, she’s a Nightmare.  Literally. Being the only Nightmare at Arkwell Academy, a boarding school for magickind, and living in the shadow of her mother’s infamy, is hard enough. But when Dusty sneaks into Eli Booker’s house, things get a whole lot more complicated. He’s hot, which means sitting on his chest and invading his dreams couldn’t get much more embarrassing. But it does. Eli is dreaming of a murder.
Then Eli's dream comes true.

Now Dusty has to follow the clues—both within Eli’s dreams and out of them—to stop the killer before more people turn up dead. And before the killer learns what she’s up to and marks her as the next target.

Author Question: What is your favorite thing about The Nightmare Affair?

The voice of my main character, Dusty. This was the first young adult novel I’d ever written, and Dusty’s sassy, slightly self-deprecating voice was a blast to write and so effortless. Also, her first person perspective helped me with the mystery elements of the story. And really the mystery is one of my favorite parts, too.

Author Question: What is your favorite thing about Senshi (A Katana Novel)?

My favorite thing about writing SENSHI was the research I did on ninja and their weapons. I learned so many fascinating thing like how they often used farming tools to fight and used measures like throwing hollowed eggshells filled with crushed glass to blind their opponents--just very cool stuff!

Paperback Original

Who would you choose?
Lucian “Lucky” Spark has been recruited for training by the totalitarian government known as the Establishment. According to Establishment rules, if a recruit fails any level of the violent training competitions, a family member is brutally killed . . . and the recruit has to choose which one.

With Cole—Lucky’s four-year-old brother—being held as “incentive,” Lucky must marshal all his skills and use his wits to keep himself alive, no matter what the cost.

Author Question: What is your favorite thing about The Culling (The Torch Keeper)?

What I love most about THE CULLING is the blend of genres. There's plenty of action and adventure, mixed with high levels of suspense and tension. There are also elements of horror and a definite creep factor. But mixed in throughout the gloom and doom is a tender love story for all the romantics out there. Hopefully, these elements, combined with a diverse set of characters, will be just the right mix to keep readers turning the pages late into the night!
