Definitely, on the adverbs--when I use...Great post! Definitely, on the adverbs--when I use them, I make sure they really need to be there. ;o) The whole character "likability" issue is fascinating. More often, I'm told a manuscript isn't marketable the way my characters are, and I DO need to whitewash them. At least a little. Eh. It flattens my character arc!
