48 April OneFour KidLit YA Round-Up with 4 Giveaways and a HUGE DANGEROUS CREATURES Prep Prize Pack from Little Brown

No real YA PICK & MIX this week, because I needed to do the special OneFour KidLit April roundup today. But we have a super set of giveaways for you anyway.

First though, YOU GUYS, I have to thank you ALL for letting me share my cover reveal of  COMPULSION and making it beyond amazing. We had over 58,000 entries in the eight Rafflecopter giveaways for my favorite books and COMPULSION ARCS, with so many lovely comments and good wishes. And I was shocked last night to discover that the Simon Pulse Goodreads giveaway was in the top 20 most requested.

As promised, I am still giving away signed copies of my favorite books all year, so there's a new giveaway going up this month on YA Books Central for a personalized ARC along with the DELIRIUM trilogy signed by Lauren Oliver. That will run through April.

Mainly though, once again, I just want to say thank you. THANK YOU! I could hug you all, especially if you are one of the lovely, lovely early readers and reviewers I've been hearing from.   And if you are a reviewer or blogger, please see here!

Now ready for the main events? More GORGEOUS, AMAZING booooooks!

SPECIAL GIVEAWAY

In addition to our OneFour KidLit preview and giveaway, we have a special giveaway from Little Brown to get everyone pumped up for the hot new DANGEROUS CREATURES!

DANGEROUS CREATURES
by Kami Garcia & Margaret Stohl
Little Brown Books for Young Readers
Released May 20, 2014

A new series returns to the world of Beautiful Creatures. Some loves are cursed...others are dangerous.

Ridley Duchannes will be the first to tell you that she's a bad girl. She's Dark. She's a Siren. You can never trust her, or even yourself when she's around. Lucky for her, Wesley "Link" Lincoln can never seem to remember that; quarter Incubus or not, his heart is Mortal when it comes to Ridley. When Link heads to New York City to start a music career, Ridley goes along for the ride-and she has her own reasons. As if leaving small-town Gatlin for the big city, trying to form a band, and surviving life with a partially reformed Siren isn't hard enough already, Link soon learns he has a price on his head that no Caster or Mortal can ever pay.

Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl, the #1 New York Times bestselling coauthors of Beautiful Creatures, are back and casting another magical spell. Their signature mixture of mystery, suspense, and romance, along with a dash of fun and danger, will pull fans in and leave them begging for more.

Strange Chemistry
Released 4/1/2014

For those who have loved Seraphina and Graceling comes another truly fabulous fantasy...

For five centuries, a witch’s curse has bound the trolls to their city beneath the ruins of Forsaken Mountain. Time enough for their dark and nefarious magic to fade from human memory and into myth. But a prophesy has been spoken of a union with the power to set the trolls free, and when Cécile de Troyes is kidnapped and taken beneath the mountain, she learns there is far more to the myth of the trolls than she could have imagined.

Cécile has only one thing on her mind after she is brought to Trollus: escape. Only the trolls are clever, fast, and inhumanly strong. She will have to bide her time, wait for the perfect opportunity.

But something unexpected happens while she’s waiting – she begins to fall for the enigmatic troll prince to whom she has been bonded and married. She begins to make friends. And she begins to see that she may be the only hope for the half-bloods – part troll, part human creatures who are slaves to the full-blooded trolls. There is a rebellion brewing. And her prince, Tristan, the future king, is its secret leader.

As Cécile becomes involved in the intricate political games of Trollus, she becomes more than a farmer’s daughter. She becomes a princess, the hope of a people, and a witch with magic powerful enough to change Trollus forever.

Author Question: What is your favorite thing about Stolen Songbird?

It's hard to say what my favourite thing about my novel is, because the joy of being the author is that you get to include all the stuff you like. I love the fantastical world of Trollus, the slow-burn romance between Cécile and Tristan, the magic, the intrigue, the adventure, and the heartbreak.

Breakfast Served Anytime
by Sarah Combs
Signed Hardcover Giveaway
U.S. Only

Candlewick
Released 4/8/2014

A coming-of-age debut evokes the bittersweet joys and pangs of finding independence in one unforgettable summer away at "geek camp."

When Gloria sets out to spend the summer before her senior year at a camp for gifted and talented students, she doesn’t know quite what to expect. Fresh from the heartache of losing her grandmother and missing her best friend, Gloria resolves to make the best of her new circumstances. But some things are proving to be more challenging than she expected. Like the series of mysterious clues left by a certain Professor X before he even shows up to teach his class, Secrets of the Written Word. Or the very sweet, but very conservative, roommate whose coal-industry family champions mountaintop removal. Not to mention the obnoxious Mason, who dresses like the Mad Hatter and immediately gets on Gloria’s nerves — but somehow won’t escape her thoughts. Beautifully told by debut author Sarah Combs, this honest and touching story of growing up is imbued with the serene atmosphere of Kentucky’s natural landscape.

Author Question: What is your favorite thing about Breakfast Served Anytime?

I love the Boxer puppy, Holyfield. I've often found myself wishing he were real.

Burn Out
by Kristi Helvig
Hardcover Giveaway
U.S. Only

EgmontUSA
Released 4/8/2014

A futuristic blend of Beth Revis's Across the Universe and Lenore Appelhans's Level 2, Burn Out will satisfy the growing desire for science fiction with a thrilling story of survival, intrigue, and adventure.

Most people want to save the world; seventeen-year-old Tora Reynolds just wants to get the hell off of it. One of the last survivors in Earth's final years, Tora yearns to escape the wasteland her planet has become after the sun turns "red giant," but discovers her fellow survivors are even more deadly than the hostile environment.

Holed up in an underground shelter, Tora is alone--her brilliant scientist father murdered, her mother and sister burned to death. She dreams of living on a planet with oceans, plants, and animals. Unfortunately, the oceans dried out ages ago, the only plants are giant cacti with deadly spines, and her pet, Trigger, is a gun--one of the bio-energetic weapons her father created for the government before his conscience kicked in.

When family friend, Markus, arrives with mercenaries to take the weapons by force, Tora's fury turns to fear when government ships descend in an attempt to kill them all. She forges an unlikely alliance with Markus and his rag-tag group of raiders, including a smart but quiet soldier named James.

She is shocked when James accidentally fires one of her father's bio-weapons--weapons designed to work only for her. She'd felt a strange pull to James from the start, but the odds of someone sharing her energy vibration are statistically miniscule. Tora must quickly figure out who she can trust, as she must choose between saving herself by giving up the guns or honoring her father's request to save humanity from the most lethal weapons in existence.
