1 Character Bucket List: Grace and Ford from RIPTIDE by Lindsey Scheibe

We're so pleased to have Lindsey Scheibe with us today, along with Grace and Ford, the two main characters of her debut RIPTIDE. Thanks for being here!

“Scheibe's debut alternates between the teenagers' dual narratives, and the story revolves around their efforts to both define their relationship and chart their futures, with the subplots involving immigration law and domestic violence adding tension. Surfing … serves as a fine metaphor for building strength and identifying risks worth taking.”
~Publishers Weekly

So the Bucket List…

Since Riptide is told from Dual POV, I thought it would be nice to give Grace and Ford a shot to share their thoughts on what they’d like to do before they kick the bucket.

Well, you know surfing is my thing and I’m not into competition, but I’m definitely into waves. And then there’s the whole legal side of me that is into helping folks with immigration issues. So here goes…

1. Surf lots of cool surf spots around the world – Bali, Pipeline, Costa Rica, Mexico (Saladita’s got some kickin’ waves.)
2. Did I say surf at cool hot spots around the world? How about camp out on the beaches, too?
3. Find Jorge’s mom and help her out.
4. And help people in general. It might sound kind of sappy, but that’s how I roll.

Oh, wow. Let’s see, I’m not really sure anymore about what I want to be when I grow up. * takes break from waxing surfboard *
Maybe I don’t really want to grow up so much.

1. Graduate college with a major I actually like
2. Be able to surf at a professional level and enjoy it
3. Surf all over the world
4. End up with a happily ever after… with a guy like Ford

Thanks so much for having Grace and Ford on the blog… and me, too! ;-)

About the Book

Grace has one summer to prove she’s good enough

For Grace Parker, surfing is all about the ride and the moment. Everything else disappears. She can forget that her best friend, Ford Watson, has a crush on her that she can’t reciprocate. She can forget how badly she wants to get a surf scholarship to UC San Diego. She can forget the pressure of her parents’ impossibly high expectations.

When Ford enters Grace into a surf competition— the only way she can impress the UCSD surfing scouts—she has one summer to train and prepare. Will she gain everything she’s ever wanted or lose the only things that ever mattered?
