This won't be a line-edit. We're looking at macro issues, and once we've put up our comments, we'll invite you to answer our questions and ask others to chime in so that it's a real workshop. Other writers may disagree with us, find different ways to address the same problem. Hopefully, we'll all be able to work together to help you find your place on the bookshelves.
So are you ready? Here are the rules.
1) Submit your first five pages in the comments below this post. We'll accept the first five entries that meet all the other rules. We'll respond as soon as possible, but give us some time.
2) Normal pages are approximately 250 words, so the entry should be approximately 1250 words total. Doesn't have to be exact.
3) The entry must be middle grade or young adult. Please specify.
4) The entry must be your own, original work.
5) You must be ready to accept constructive critique. We aren't going to just say it's great.
6) If you post, be prepared to comment contructively, kindly, and respectfully on the other posts.
That's it. Submit your entries!

Great idea! Am not going to enter but will try to pop by to crit.
ReplyDeleteThis is a great idea! I won't submit anything either, my MG is sooo far from ready. But maybe if you do this again I'll be ready then :D
ReplyDeleteHi Ladies. I tried to post my first 5 pages here and got a red box that says: "Your HTML cannot be accepted: Must be at most 4,096 characters" I don't have any coding, just text. Any ideas? Thanks.
ReplyDeleteI got the same message as Vicki. Awaiting your instructions. :)
ReplyDeleteI think that many pages might be too long for the comment box and that's why we're getting an error message.
ReplyDeleteDitto. It's because 1250 words is about 6000 characters. Basically the message is too long for a comment box. Should we post the content somewhere else and link here?
ReplyDeleteI had the same problem - couldn't post the entry. :D
ReplyDeleteThank you everyone! Hang in there while we work out the technical difficulties.
ReplyDeleteOkay - Please email your entries to Kidlit at Writeedge dot com and we will honor the order of those who attempted to post. So Vicki, Janet, Nicole, Liberty, and Brenda. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteOhh, I'm excited for this. Good luck Vicki, Janet, Nicole, Liberty, and Brenda.
ReplyDeleteThis is great! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI've sent it. Yay! Thanks so much for a wonderful workshop. I just finished the story I submitted and can't wait to have everyone tear it apart for me. :D
ReplyDeleteWhat a cool idea! Can't wait to see how it all runs! :)
ReplyDeleteMine's sent, too. Thank you so much for this opportunity! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to see the crits. :D
ReplyDeleteA great idea!
ReplyDeleteFive pages is a lot; I don't think I'd like to have that many posted online, myself. But I look forward to seeing your critiques and comments! It's a great opportunity for writers. :)
ReplyDeleteWow! This is a great idea! I won a critique from Lisa, and she is WONDERFUL!!! And I can't believe you have been here a year
