5 Hope Unseen: Inspiration For Writers in an Unlikely Place

This piece of inspiration combines two things that are near and dear to my heart-- writing and our troops. When my husband passed along the story of Army Captain Scotty Smiley, I had to find out more. Scotty, as his friends and family call him, was serving in Iraq in 2005 when a car bomb left him blind. Fast forward five years, and Scotty is now the first active-duty Army officer to serve without sight. He also has a new book out this month through Simon & Schuster.

You can read Scotty's story here.

Scotty's book Hope Unseen: The Truimphant Faith of Scotty Smiley released September 9th.

I hope you're as inspired by this story as I was. As writers, this proves that nothing can stop us from getting published if we are willing to overcome obstacles. As an American, I couldn't be more proud of our courageous troops and their families.

Thanks for your service, Scotty!
